Associate Director, Analytics & Data Products
Quantum Search Partners
Job Description
Job Description
A Quantum Search Partners client, a leading digital media and publishing company, is seeking an Associate Director, Analytics & Data Products.
This is a hybrid manager/individual-contributor role that owns how the business consumes data, from intake and prioritization of analytics requests, through delivery of reporting and dashboards, to the deeper business questions a dashboard alone can't answer. You'll manage the BI analyst function while staying hands-on with the highest-value analysis, serve as the primary point of contact between the data team and the business, and own the definitions of the metrics everyone reports against. The ideal candidate blends product-management instincts with genuine analytical depth and is comfortable being both the person who runs the backlog and the person who still writes the query.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end intake process for analytics and reporting requests, including the prioritization framework, backlog, and delivery SLAs
- Own the relationship between the data team and business stakeholders, translating ambiguous questions into scoped analytics work and acting as the escalation point between data, stakeholders, and IT
- Manage the reporting and dashboard delivery pipeline from requirements through delivery
- Own the definitions of core metrics and entities used across reporting, and arbitrate when definitions conflict across teams
- Personally lead higher-complexity analysis that requires judgment, context, and business domain knowledge
- Manage and grow the BI analyst function, setting goals, coaching, and building a pipeline of talent
- Partner with Data Engineering to ensure the semantic layer and reporting outputs meet governance standards
- Apply PM/TPM discipline (roadmaps, dependency tracking, risk management, stakeholder status updates) to the analytics delivery pipeline
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years in analytics, business intelligence, or a related data discipline
- Demonstrated experience owning intake, prioritization frameworks, SLAs, and a delivery backlog for a data or analytics function (formal PM or TPM background is a strong plus)
- Experience defining and governing shared metric and entity definitions (a semantic layer) across a business
- Strong track record translating ambiguous business questions into scoped technical requirements
- Comfortable partnering with a data engineering or platform team without owning the infrastructure directly
- Persuasive communication and stakeholder management skills, including acting as an escalation point between technical and business teams
- Strong analytical and storytelling skills, able to present complex data clearly to executives
- Experience with modern BI platforms, cloud-based data warehouses, Jira or similar PM tools, and Agile delivery
- Publishing or media industry experience is highly desired but not required
Compensation
$165,000 to $190,000 annually, plus bonus and benefits. Hybrid, two days a week in office, based in the Washington, DC or New York City area.
