Purpose of Position:

Del Monte Foods is the Foods Division of Fresh Del Monte, a global grower, producer and marketer of fresh, value-added, and shelf-stable produce. Del Monte Foods has a powerful portfolio of brands, including the iconic Del Monte®, Contadina® and S&W®. We are currently seeking a Janitor. The Janitorial / Buildings and Grounds position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and basic upkeep of plant buildings, offices, restrooms, breakrooms, grounds, and common areas throughout the facility. This role supports both indoor and outdoor maintenance activities and helps maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.

The position works closely with plant leadership, utility teams, seasonal employees, and outside vendors to support janitorial tasks, groundskeeping, seasonal cleanup, and general building maintenance. This role may also provide direction to seasonal janitorial staff during the processing season.

Accountabilities:

Janitorial and Facility Cleaning

• Clean and maintain restrooms, breakrooms, offices, locker rooms, and common areas.
• Refill supplies including paper products, soap, towels, and cleaning materials.
• Empty waste containers and maintain cleanliness throughout the facility.
• Maintain floors, windows, and general building appearance.
• Support cleaning needs during both production and non-production periods.

Building Maintenance

• Perform minor building maintenance activities including door repairs, window repairs, air filter changes, and upkeep of makeup air units and roof fans.
• Conduct monthly fire extinguisher inspections and other assigned facility inspections.
• Support minor plumbing repairs and general maintenance needs.
• Assist with recycling, cardboard baling, and off-site deliveries or pickups.

Groundskeeping and Seasonal Support

• Maintain lawns, shrubs, trees, and landscaped areas.
• Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment.
• Perform snow removal, salting, winter maintenance, and yard cleanup activities.
• Conduct hydrant flushing and support seasonal grounds maintenance activities.
• Provide direction to seasonal janitorial staff during the processing season.

Minimum Skills Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, building maintenance, and janitorial practices.
• Ability to use a variety of hand tools, power tools, and groundskeeping equipment.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in changing weather conditions.
• Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and elevated platforms.
• Ability to bend, twist, pivot, reach, and stand for extended periods.
• May be required to become forklift certified.
• Previous janitorial, maintenance, groundskeeping, or custodial experience.
• Experience operating lawn equipment, snow removal equipment, or forklifts.
• Basic building maintenance, electrical, or plumbing experience.
• Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Equivalent combinations of education, maintenance experience, groundskeeping experience, janitorial experience, and mechanical ability that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
