Senior Mechanical Engineer (Mission Critical/Data Center) - Remote

Job Overview kW Mission Critical Engineering, part of WSP, is a high‑performance consulting engineering firm designing data centers and mission critical environments worldwide. We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design complex cooling and HVAC systems for mission critical facilities. Responsibilities Independently support the project team during design and construction stages. Design air distribution, hydronic, and automated temperature control systems. Integrate mechanical engineering requirements into facility designs. Develop drawings and specification documents for issuance. Attend client meetings and contribute to discussions. Collaborate with internal discipline teams, external vendors and manufacturers. Communicate mechanical engineering concepts and decisions to clients and stakeholders. Maintain client relationships and develop new ones. Mentor and train junior engineers. Track and coordinate all mechanical disciplines: HVAC, Energy, Controls, Fire Protection, Fire Alarm, Plumbing, Fuel Oil Storage/Management/Distribution. Provide oversight of mechanical design, review systems and drawings prior to issuance. Perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) evaluations for existing and new facilities. Select and schedule major equipment. Develop project specifications. Survey and evaluate existing conditions. Perform construction administration tasks. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering with emphasis on mechanical building systems. 5+ years of experience designing mechanical systems for high‑performing commercial, industrial, or mission‑critical/data‑center buildings. Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Trane Trace and Pipeflow. Knowledge of building, mechanical and energy codes. Ability to travel to project sites. Preferred Qualifications EIT or registered Professional Engineer (PE), if eligible. Experience with interior and exterior CFD analysis. Mission‑critical/Data Center experience. Experience with international projects. Compensation and Benefits Expected salary: $90,000–$150,000.
