Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Director Maternal Child Health to oversee nursing operations, clinical quality, patient safety, and staff development across maternal and child health services. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership experience in Labor and Delivery, Postpartum/Mother-Baby, and Level II or higher NICU environments.

This role is responsible for strategic planning, multidisciplinary collaboration, regulatory compliance, budget management, and continuous improvement of clinical operations to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct daily operations across multiple maternal and child health nursing units in a 24/7 hospital environment.

• Oversee Labor and Delivery, Postpartum/Mother-Baby, and Level II or higher NICU services.

• Develop and implement clinical policies, best practices, patient care standards, and operational improvement initiatives.

• Lead nursing managers and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring accountability, staff engagement, and professional development.

• Collaborate with physicians, clinical leaders, and healthcare partners to improve patient outcomes and care delivery.

• Manage staffing, resource allocation, equipment utilization, and operational budgets.

• Monitor clinical quality, patient safety, performance metrics, and patient satisfaction.

• Ensure compliance with the California Nursing Practice Act, The Joint Commission standards, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

• Lead regulatory readiness activities, audits, risk management, and corrective action initiatives.

• Direct strategic projects focused on quality improvement, operational efficiency, and standardized care delivery.

• Oversee emergency preparedness and ensure staff readiness for emergency response and recovery.

• Support recruitment, performance management, succession planning, and ongoing staff competency development.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

• Minimum 7 years of patient care delivery experience.

• Minimum 7 years of experience in business operations, clinical healthcare, or a directly related field.

• Minimum 2 years of experience managing operational or project budgets.

• Minimum 2 years of leadership experience with direct reports.

• Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required at hire.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at hire.

• Director-level nursing leadership experience.

• Experience in Labor and Delivery, Postpartum/Mother-Baby, and Level II or higher NICU.

• Strong project management, team leadership, and operational management skills.

• Magnet hospital experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Nursing.

• Nurse Executive Advanced-Board Certified (NEA-BC) or Nurse Executive-Board Certified (NE-BC) certification.

• Experience with clinical quality improvement, regulatory compliance, budget planning, and hospital operations.
