Location: Portsmouth, VA

Duration: 12 Months

Pay Rate: $19.00–$20/hour

Shift: 8:00 AM–4:30 PM

Position Summary

The Materials Handler III will perform a variety of activities supporting the Quality Management System and ensuring compliance with established procedures and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine quality control audits to ensure procedural compliance.
• Conduct daily verification of picking activities.
• Report daily service issues during morning Tier meetings.
• Analyze and report trends related to service issues.
• Provide real-time feedback and corrective guidance to prevent issues from escalating.
• Remove damaged products from pickable locations.
• Conduct spot-check inspections and audits of production operations.
• Participate in the internal audit program.
• Assist with Document Control, record retention, and sample retention activities as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of warehouse operations experience.
• Ability to follow Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to follow established procedures and accurately document results.
• Understanding of distribution processes and the ability to identify deviations from approved procedures.

Language Skills

• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to communicate effectively with employees and small groups.

Mathematical Skills

• Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts, including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions, to practical situations.

Computer Skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Experience with SAGE or Great Plains ERP is preferred.
