Job Description

St. Vincent's Behavioral Health Services, the flagship behavioral health service line of Hartford HealthCare’s Fairfield region and primary teaching hospital for Quinnipiac University’s Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine, is seeking a Psychiatrist committed to resident and medical student education to serve as Assistant Medical Director in our department and as the Medical Director for our geriatric psychiatry inpatient service. The Psychiatrist will also participate in patient care, resident supervision, and medical student teaching, joining a mature and collegial faculty peer group. Applicants will be eligible for academic appointment through the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine commensurate with the school’s appointments and promotion process.

Key Responsibilities & Highlights

• Provide the highest quality of psychiatric and substance use treatment to an elderly and medically complex patient population.
• Serve as the clinical leader for our multidisciplinary treatment team and develop leadership skills, with additional mentorship opportunities from department and network leadership.
• Participate in patient care, resident supervision, and medical student teaching.
• Opportunity to serve as faculty for our new psychiatry residency program with dedicated academic time.

Location & Surrounding Area

St. Vincent’s Behavioral Health service line operates three main clinical sites: a 76‑bed free‑standing inpatient psychiatric service at the Westport location; a 10‑bed geriatric and medically complex psychiatric unit at the main medical center in Bridgeport; and outpatient services including IOP at the Norwalk clinic. The service line is one of the largest in Connecticut, serving over 2,500 individuals annually.
