OPPORTUNITY SUMMARY

Help make sure people in our community know where to turn when they need employment support, career training, résumé assistance, digital skills, or help taking their next step toward work.

Goodwill of North Georgia’s Woodstock Career Center is seeking dependable Community Outreach Volunteers to help distribute approved Career Center materials throughout the local community.

This is a flexible, independent volunteer opportunity for someone who enjoys being active in the community and wants to help connect people with free career resources and opportunities.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Many people know Goodwill for its stores and donation centers but may not realize that Goodwill of North Georgia also provides no-cost career services, training opportunities, job-search support, digital skills resources, résumé tools, employer connections, and community-resource information.

Community Outreach Volunteers help close that information gap.

Volunteers will select from approved outreach locations and distribute or replenish Career Center flyers, brochures, and other approved materials.

Examples of outreach locations may include:

• Blessing boxes and community food pantries
• Community-resource locations
• Libraries
• Churches and faith communities
• Laundromats
• Community bulletin boards
• Senior-serving locations
• Housing and community centers
• Other approved outreach sites

Volunteers may also recommend potential new outreach locations. All new locations must be approved before materials are distributed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Pick up approved outreach materials from the Woodstock Career Center
• Select outreach locations from an approved list
• Deliver and replenish flyers, brochures, and other approved materials
• Confirm materials are visible, current, and appropriately placed
• Take a simple photo of each completed placement or replenishment
• Submit a brief outreach log after each location visit
• Record the location, date, estimated number of materials delivered, and any relevant notes
• Report locations that decline materials, remove materials, or need different quantities
• Suggest potential new outreach locations for staff approval
• Represent Goodwill professionally and respectfully when interacting with community partners
• Use only approved Goodwill materials and messaging

VOLUNTEER ACCOUNTABILITY

Because this is a flexible and largely independent opportunity, volunteers will be asked to complete a simple outreach record for each location visited.

Each submission should include:

• Date of visit
• Location name
• Number or approximate quantity of materials placed
• One photo showing the completed placement or location
• Short note about whether materials were replenished, newly placed, declined, or need follow-up

This process helps the Career Center track community reach, avoid duplicate outreach, and make sure materials stay current.

TIME COMMITMENT

This is a flexible volunteer opportunity.

Volunteers may complete outreach activities based on their own availability and may take approved materials with them for scheduled distribution.

A minimum commitment of at least 4 verified outreach locations per month is expected.

Volunteers who wish to participate more frequently are welcome to do so.

Because outreach activity may vary by location, volunteers are evaluated based on completed and documented outreach rather than a specific number of weekly hours.

TRANSPORTATION

Volunteers must provide their own transportation.

Mileage and transportation expenses are not reimbursed.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The ideal volunteer is:

• Dependable and self-directed
• Comfortable working independently
• Organized and able to complete simple activity reports
• Comfortable taking and uploading basic photos from a phone
• Familiar with Woodstock, Cherokee County, or surrounding communities
• Professional and respectful when representing Goodwill
• Interested in workforce development, community service, or connecting people with useful resources
• Able to follow approved outreach routes, placement guidelines, and brand standards

REQUIREMENTS

• Age 18 or older
• Reliable transportation
• Smartphone or device capable of taking and submitting photos
• Ability to complete a background-check process
• Willingness to use only approved Goodwill materials and outreach locations
• Ability to meet the minimum monthly activity requirement

TRAINING AND SUPPORT

Training will be provided.

Volunteers will receive:

• An overview of Goodwill Career Center services
• Guidance on approved outreach materials
• An approved location list
• Instructions for documenting completed outreach
• Support from Career Center staff when questions or unusual situations arise

Outreach activities will take place at approved community locations throughout Woodstock, Cherokee County, and nearby service areas.

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

People cannot use services they do not know exist.

A single flyer placed in the right location can connect someone to résumé assistance, training, career coaching, digital skills, job opportunities, or community resources they may not have known were available.

As a Community Outreach Volunteer, you will help bring Career Center information directly into the places where people already live, work, worship, shop, and seek support.
