ELECTRICIAN LEADER

Summary You will serve as an Electrician Leader in the Department of the Navy. The position includes work at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Trident Refit Facility Bangor, Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility. Locations Point Loma Complex, San Diego, CA Pearl Harbor Naval Base, Oahu, HI Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, ME Philadelphia, PA Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, VA Bangor, WA Bremerton, WA Everett, WA Duties You will determine placement of electrical distribution panels and other equipment. You will install, maintain, troubleshoot, or repair electrical equipment, systems, generators, switchboards, or control equipment in a shipyard environment. You will use theoretical practices of the trade to repair faulty electrical equipment or systems on nuclear ships. You will operate power tools (pipe benders, cutters, power drills) to cut, bend, fit, and thread components. You will use hand tools and test equipment to check alignment, output, or resistance to ground and other electrical characteristics. You will diagnose faulty electrical equipment or systems to determine rework or replacement of faulty components on nuclear ship alterations and repairs. Conditions of Employment Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. Within the Department of Defense, appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date is subject to 5 USC 3326. You must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance before duty. Work may involve exposure to harmful agents; you must participate in medical surveillance programs. You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, and safety shoes during the work shift. Travel may be required to CONUS and OCONUS; you must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods. Work may require unusual duty hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Overtime or night differential pay may be required. This may be a drug testing position; pre-employment drug testing (including marijuana) is required. Random drug testing may occur. Exposure to high noise levels may occur.
