Hiring Locations and Language Requirements Van Nuys, CA (Retail Pharmacy) Language Requirement : Spanish, Tagalog, or Farsi Job Summary Prepares medications under the direction of a pharmacist. May measure, mix, count, label, and record amounts and dosages of medications according to prescription orders. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Processing Prescriptions Receive written prescription or refill requests and verify that information is complete and accurate; requests missing information as appropriate and retrieves the patient’s pharmacy record(s) for verification by pharmacist. Process prescription refills to include refill confirmation when appropriate, review pending refills with the supervising pharmacist, generate refill documentation, and process third party claims adjudication. Enter prescription information into computer databases; accesses, processes, and retrieves data from the pharmacy system, including speed codes and drug interaction data, as state and federal laws permit. Establish and maintain patient profiles, including lists of medications taken by individual patients, and notations for pharmacists’ review. Transfer medication from vials to the appropriate number of sterile, disposable syringes, using aseptic techniques. Price and file prescriptions that have been filled. Mix pharmaceutical preparations, according to written prescriptions. Supply and monitor robotic machines that dispense medicine into containers and label the containers. Clean and help maintain equipment or work areas and sterilize glassware and maintain all required temperature logs, according to prescribed methods. Prepack bulk medicines, fill bottles with prescribed medications, and type and affix labels. Prepare prescriptions for home delivery; account for delivery receipts from driver for all delivered prescriptions; delivers medications to patients’ homes or medical facilities, as needed.
