Preschool Teacher Assistant

Future Leaders of Excellence is seeking a reliable and motivated Teacher Assistant to support our early childhood classroom team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children, values teamwork, and wants to contribute to a structured, caring, and developmentally focused learning environment.

The Teacher Assistant will work under the guidance of the Lead Teacher and administrative team to help carry out daily classroom activities, support student engagement, and maintain a positive and organized classroom setting. This position plays an important role in reinforcing learning, promoting positive behavior, and supporting daily routines for children.

• Assist in the implementation of daily lesson plans and classroom activities
• Support the Lead Teacher in maintaining a structured and engaging learning environment
• Interact with children to encourage learning, social development, and positive behavior
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment
• Assist with transitions, arrival, departure, and daily routines
• Support classroom documentation and observations as directed by the Lead Teacher
• Communicate professionally with families during daily interactions and provide basic updates when needed
• Encourage independence, self-help skills, and appropriate classroom behavior
• Follow all center policies, procedures, and state licensing requirements
• Participate in training and professional development opportunities

• Infant and Child CPR and First Aid certification required or must be obtained within required timeframe
• Must successfully complete and maintain TDHS-required background checks, including fingerprinting and reference verification
• Must pass a pre-employment health screening as required under Tennessee Child Care Licensing Regulations
• Ability to work full time in an active early childhood classroom environment
• Strong verbal communication skills and basic written communication ability
• Ability to follow direction and work effectively as part of a classroom team
• Ability to engage in active supervision including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and sitting on the floor with children
• Ability to lift or carry up to 40 pounds as needed
• Ability to see and hear clearly, including close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to respond to child cues and environmental sounds
• Must be able to communicate effectively with children and adults in a busy classroom setting
• Must be able to actively participate in classroom routines and movement throughout the day
• Must be willing to work toward early childhood certification if not already obtained

• Child Development Associate (CDA), Technical Certificate (TCC), or Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field may also be considered
• Relevant childcare experience may be accepted in place of formal education
