CA Department of Tax and Fee Administration Business Taxes Administrator II, Board of Equalization (JC-523719) Salary: $8,506.00 – $11,114.00 per month. New-to-State candidates will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification or at the minimum of the alternate range, if applicable. Final Filing Date: 7/22/2026 Job Summary The Business Taxes Administrator II (BTA II) reports to the Supervising Tax Auditor II (STA II) and provides leadership over compliance, audit, and administrative functions for business taxes. The BTA II manages day‑to‑day operations of Data and Analysis Services, oversees the work of Business Taxes Specialist I and II staff, and advises the STA II on complex policy and procedural issues. The role includes preparing reports, graphs, and memoranda for executive management, and motivating, training, and evaluating team members. Responsibilities Manage day‑to‑day operational functions of Data and Analysis Services. Oversee duties performed by Business Taxes Specialist I and II personnel. Assist and advise the STA II on the most sensitive and complex CDTFA policy and procedural issues. Identify potential problems and develop solutions or alternatives using data analysis. Prepare and review reports, graphs, and memoranda for the STA II and executive management. Motivate, train, develop, and monitor performance of team members. Minimum Requirements Minimum qualifications as outlined in the CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION for Business Taxes Administrator II. Relevant experience in audit, compliance, data analysis, or related fields. Strong communication, analytical, and leadership skills. Working Conditions Position may be located in a high‑rise building. Standard office environment. Requires a stationary position for extended periods. Daily use of a personal computer, office equipment, and telephone. Must be able to move or transport equipment up to ten (10) pounds. Telework is partially available. Eligibility for Promotional Exams Permanent civil service appointment with CDTFA. Current or former employees of the legislature for 2+ years (Govt. Code 18990). Current or former non‑elected exempt employees of the executive branch for 2+ consecutive years (Govt. Code 18992).
