Certified Nursing AssistantUnder general supervision, provides direct care to residents and assists with activities of daily living. Provides effective, timely, and quality health care assistance and related support for assisted living residents.Direct Care: Assists residents with showers, dental and mouth care, undressing/dressing, hair care, nail care, incontinence management, positioning, bowel and bladder functions, lifting, turning, moving, and walking. Answers resident calls promptly. Assist with the care of the dying resident, maintaining hope, dignity, and love for the resident at all times. Provide post-mortem care as instructed.Housekeeping and General Cleaning: Changes soiled linen and bedding. Disposes of soiled or contaminated items. Makes beds if needed.Communication/Reporting: Takes vital signs, observes residents well being, reports changes, weighs and measures residents, participates in nursing report, maintains confidentiality, reports suspected abuse.Safety: Obeys safety rules, identifies and reports safety hazards, attends safety in-services, utilizes proper body mechanics, follows exposure policies, uses safety equipment.Mission/Customer Service: Supports Eden Alternative philosophy, follows St. John's Guidelines for Customer Service, attends mandatory in-services, attends training and educational classes.Employee Responsibilities: Follows TB testing and annual influenza vaccination policies, performs duties as requested by nurse, performs other duties as assigned.Requirements: High school diploma or GED preferred, prior experience in human service or health care setting preferred, current Montana State Nurses Aide Certification or completion of SJU CNA Course and certification within 120 days. Skills in observation, communication, interaction, lifting, safety, and use of health care supplies. Ability to work independently and in a team, respond to residents needs, deal with stressful situations.Physical Demands: Requires moderate physical work, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, walking, and bending for prolonged periods of time. Working conditions involve exposure to unusual elements, hazards, blood borne pathogens, physical risks, plants, and animals.
