RN Medical Surgical Registered Nurse Med Surg

Parkland Medical Center is seeking an experienced RN Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (Med Surg) to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to a diverse adult patient population on our medical-surgical units, supporting patients with acute and chronic conditions, post-operative recovery, and complex care needs. Working collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, and support staff, you will perform comprehensive assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, administer medications and treatments safely, and continuously evaluate patient responses. You will coordinate admissions, discharges, and transfers, provide patient and family education on diagnoses, medications, and home care, and serve as an advocate to ensure patients receive safe, respectful, and culturally sensitive care.

As an integral member of a team-focused unit, you will help maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record, follow evidence-based protocols and hospital policies, and contribute to quality and safety initiatives including fall prevention, infection control, and pain management. You will monitor vital signs and hemodynamic status, recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition, and escalate concerns using established communication tools. The Med Surg RN will precept and mentor new nurses and support staff as needed, participate in multidisciplinary rounds, and support throughput and bed management by prioritizing and organizing patient care efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
