Responsibilities include coordinating orientation programs, assessing learning needs, developing and delivering educational initiatives, supporting competency validation, and promoting evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes. Essential Duties Assess and identify educational and professional development needs of nursing staff. Design, develop, coordinate, and deliver educational programs and competency-based training. Facilitate onboarding, orientation, and transition-to-practice programs. Support clinical staff development through coaching, mentoring, and consultation. Assist with quality improvement, regulatory readiness, and evidence-based practice initiatives. Collaborate with nursing leaders to achieve departmental and organizational goals. Evaluate educational outcomes and implement improvements as needed. Essential Functions of the Role Create and assess professional development programs aligned with current methodologies to promote ongoing learning. Identify the needs of staff, work closely with various teams, and modify educational material to suit those needs. Help implement education plans and create a positive environment to reach organizational goals. Design and assess educational activities and projects, engage team members, and implement evidence-based content. Use reliable methods to evaluate program outcomes, involve learners in evaluation, and adjust material based on data collected. Build relationships with various community education programs and weave ethics through all aspects of educational practice. Qualifications Required Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Current RN license. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Minimum 2 years of recent inpatient Medical‑Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience. Strong clinical, communication, and leadership skills. Preferred Oncology experience in an inpatient or ambulatory setting strongly preferred. Previous educator, preceptor, charge nurse, or professional development experience. Specialty certification (OCN, Med‑Surg, or Nursing Professional Development certification) preferred. Key Success Factors Familiarity with nursing practices, standards of patient care and procedures. Comprehensive grasp of pertinent laws, regulations and standards set by accrediting agencies. Knowledgeable in the areas of health promotion, illness prevention, and healthcare terminology. Deep respect for medical and nursing ethics, and commitment to safeguarding patient confidentiality. Adaptable teaching skills that cater to diverse learning methods. Excellent communication skills with an aptitude for interacting with a varied group of people.
