Lower Bay TechnicianLower Bay Technicians work in a fast-paced environment and are responsible for servicing our guests' vehicles and ensuring quality workmanship. They assist the Lube Technician to perform Jiffy Lubes' Signature Service Oil Change as well as [under chassis] gear box/transmission fluid services with a focus on our guests' needs and expectations. This is a unique position working alone servicing all vehicles with the Lube Technicians. This is an important job in our Jiffy Lube stores and critical to our success. This is much like technical schools offer, but in addition to online training we also provide on-the-job training (hands-on) which provides for a more balanced skill set and "you'll earn while learn".Lower Bay Technician qualifications include previous experience is essential and requires a minimum of 1-year working for a dealership, automotive shop, tire center or quick lube. A high school diploma or GED is required, and for those considering college you can earn credits through Jiffy Lube (Ace Credit) courses. Also, all J-Team members must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as be able to speak effectively with our guests and other teammates.Once you've become certified, we offer advancement opportunities to become a Lube Technician, Plus Tech/Mechanic, or Service Advisor.The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, be energetic, hardworking, and able to multi-task, show initiative, responsible, and must be reliable, have good interpersonal and communication skills, and be computer savvy to learn basic POS system commands.Physical qualifications include standing for long periods of time on hard surfaces, like concrete or metal, and working in an environment in which you may frequently experience hot and cold temperatures, loud noises, and exhaust fumes. Other physical qualifications include operating equipment such as overhead and floor mounted oil and grease guns, transmission machine, air conditioner service machine, radiator service machine, hand tools and basic shop equipment, lifting and moving work-related items up to 25 pounds, and pushing, pulling, lifting, and bending at the knees and waist, twisting body at the waist, raising and holding arms overhead, and turning head-neck-shoulders as needed.Requirements include performing Jiffy Lubes Signature Service Oil Change, inspecting and servicing under chassis fluids, grease fittings, tire rotations and other minor services, inspecting vehicle for leaks and safety issues, and removing & securing skid plate. Also, having a positive attitude, strong work ethic, motivated, and a team player, having a valid driver's license and authorized to work in the US, completing all required training courses through Jiffy Lube University, and maintaining and servicing drain pans, catwalk and basement is clean and presentable.
