Registered Nurse - Med/Surg (MS/Tele)

Schedule

1:6 patient ratio for days, nights, and weekends. Every other weekend is required. No call scheduled. If one major holiday falls within the assignment, the traveler is expected to work it; if two fall within, the traveler works both; if three, two of them. Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day.

Assignment Details

Orientation consists of 36 hours. Maximum time off (RTO) is limited to 7 days per contract, with RTO blackout during Spring Break (April 4-12). All RTO must be finalized at submission.

Requirements

• Current RN licensure in the state or a compact license.
• Minimum of 1 year RN experience required; first-time travelers are accepted.
• Preferred charge nurse experience and community hospital experience.
• BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS certifications are additional preferred certifications.
• Experience with Epic charting system is mandatory.
• Core clinical skills required include IV starts, blood product administration, wound care, chest tube management, telemetry, and knowledge of isolation precautions.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to a diverse patient population including adults and geriatrics with a range of medical diagnoses.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV team, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, phlebotomy, social services, rapid response, and pharmacy.
• Manage medication administration using pharmacy systems.
• Participate in rapid response and code team activities.
• Implement isolation precautions and utilize PPE as necessary.

Compliance / Notes

All compliance documents are due the Tuesday prior to the start date, with full compliance necessary to start on time. Noncompliance may delay the start by up to two weeks. Orientation modules are completed during orientation, and those hours are considered non-billable.
