Job Title: Mobile Phlebotomist (Float Role)

Location: Nashville, TN (Regional Travel Required)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (40 hours/week)

Pay Rate: $21.00 - $24.00/hour + mileage reimbursement ($0.70/mile)


Job Summary


Under the direction of the Regional Supervisor, the Mobile Phlebotomist provides high-quality specimen collection services across multiple Patient Service Centers (PSC) and in-office clinical settings. This float role is designed for flexibility, offering critical coverage to partner clinics within the Nashville territory (typically within a 2-hour radius).


The ideal candidate is adaptable, organized, and comfortable working in a variety of clinical environments. This individual will act as a professional ambassador, delivering excellent patient care while maintaining strict adherence to laboratory protocols and safety standards.


Key Responsibilities


Regional Coverage & Specimen Collection

• Travel to various clinical sites to provide coverage, often with short-notice schedule adjustments
• Perform venipuncture and collect non-blood specimens (urine, fecal, etc.) accurately and efficiently
• Maintain a calm, professional demeanor to reduce patient anxiety
• Properly dispose of biohazard materials and sharps in accordance with safety regulations

Processing & Documentation

• Accurately enter patient demographics, insurance, and billing data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
• Verify handwritten orders with clinical staff for correct test and diagnosis codes
• Prepare specimens for transport (centrifuging, labeling, freezing, splitting) per protocol
• Research test requirements to ensure specimen integrity prior to transport

Administrative & Professionalism

• Maintain daily logs, patient records, and assist with monthly reporting
• Perform clerical duties such as filing, faxing, and data entry
• Uphold professional appearance and grooming standards
• Manage time effectively while working independently across multiple sites
• Assist with inventory tracking and reporting shortages

Compliance & Safety

• Follow all PPE and laboratory safety guidelines
• Maintain confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA
• Adhere to all corporate compliance and privacy policies

Qualifications


Education & Licensure

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Phlebotomy Certification preferred (required in some states)
• Valid Driver's License and active auto insurance required

Experience & Skills

• 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Comfortable working in diverse clinical environments with different teams

Preferred

• Medical training (Medical Assistant, Paramedic, or similar background)

Travel Requirements

• Regular travel within a 2-hour radius of Nashville, TN
• Reliable transportation required
• Mileage reimbursed at $0.70 per mile
• Occasional overnight stays may be required based on business needs
