Accounting Technician

Overview Goldbelt Integrated Logistics Services (GbILS) provides four specific areas of expertise—Logistics Engineering, Measurement Sciences, Program Management, and Technical Support—serving the scientific, technical, and engineering needs of clients. Summary: At the Government's discretion, Accounting Technicians will be assigned within three (3) branches throughout the ALO (Cost Accounting Branch, Fiscal Operations Branch, and Risk Management Branch). These positions shall support the operations of each branch by assisting personnel with accounting and administrative type duties including but not limited to general ledgers, risk management efforts, and process analysis. Responsibilities Provide support in maintaining ALC's general ledger Support ledgers and supporting documentation Support the ALC's risk management efforts Provide analysis of various processes throughout ALC that affect costs and/or budget Provide any other accounting and administrative services as needed Qualifications Necessary Skills and Knowledge: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English Demonstrated general computer skills for accounting environment: e.g., proficient in the use often (10) key number pad on computer Ability to use Outlook to receive and send email, enter requirements in shared calendars, use shared mailboxes, use out-of-office assistant; manage electronic files and folders; use keyboard for page controls, print screen, and special characters Demonstrated ability to utilize common software programs including Microsoft Excel (to include the ability to perform complex functions and create pivot tables/graphs), Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Share Point, Microsoft Visio, Adobe Acrobat, Excellent written and verbal communication Demonstrated excellent ability to manage multiple tasks with competing Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge and infer requirements for projects based on compliance with laws and regulations Demonstrated ability to work with minimal Government Possess knowledge of the various steps and procedures required to provide a full range of accounting support for commonly used practice Minimum Qualifications: Accounting Degree or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by twenty-four (24) semester hours. The 24 hours may include up to six (6) hours of credit in business law. OR Combination of education and experience: at least four (4) years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting The applicant's background must also include one of the following: Twenty-four (24) semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to six (6) hours of business law A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., fifteen (15) semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the twenty-four (24) semester hour requirement, provided that: Has successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field, g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining A panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that the applicant has demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful completion of the four (4) year course of study described above Except for literal nonconformance to the requirement of twenty-four (24) semester hours in accounting, the applicant's education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements Must be a U.S. citizen Preferred Qualifications: At least 3 years of related experience Pay and Benefits At Goldbelt, we value and reward our team's dedication and hard work.
