Job Description
This role supports the Polyurethane (Poly) department by operating production equipment and performing general labor tasks that transform liquid polymer into finished foam earplugs. You will work on a manufacturing line, rotating through various stations that involve equipment operation, manual insertion of components, cleaning and preparing tooling, and inspecting and packaging finished products. The position requires strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, repetitive production environment.
Responsibilities

• Operate production equipment on the polyurethane line, including loading and unloading materials and performing basic troubleshooting to keep the line running smoothly.
• Use small hand tools at a stationary desktop table to repeatedly press white plastic inserts into metal plate tooling on the conveyor line, ensuring each insert is correctly seated for foam injection.
• Perform kitting duties by removing used inserts from the metal plates, cleaning both inserts and bases, stacking them on carts, and supplying them back to the production operator for reuse.
• Inspect foam earplugs one by one as they exit the curing equipment, checking for correct shape, firmness, and overall quality, and identify products that are too hard, too soft, or otherwise out of specification.
• Perform regular weight checks by weighing batches of earplugs (for example, 30 at a time) on a small scale to verify that product weight stays within acceptable deviation.
• Assemble flat cardboard into boxes at the end of the line, replace full boxes with empty ones, and maintain a steady flow of packaging materials to support continuous production.
• Tape, label, and move full boxes of finished earplugs onto pallets for shipment, typically processing around 60 boxes per shift.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area by performing general cleaning tasks and following housekeeping standards throughout the shift.
• Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of required personal protective equipment, and promptly report any equipment or quality issues to the appropriate personnel.
• Support mandatory overtime requirements as needed to meet production demands, including flexibility to work additional hours beyond the standard schedule.

Essential Skills

• Previous manufacturing experience, with familiarity in production, general labor, or assembly line work.
• Manual dexterity in the hands to perform repetitive tasks such as pushing or punching out plastic inserts and handling small components efficiently and accurately.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions for extended periods while maintaining focus and consistent quality.
• Capability to work mandatory overtime when required to meet production schedules.
• Comfort working in a manufacturing line environment with moving conveyors, machinery, and continuous production flow.
• Basic machine operation skills, including loading and unloading equipment and performing simple troubleshooting tasks.
• Attention to detail and quality, particularly in visual inspection and basic quality checks such as weighing product samples.
• Ability to stand for most of the shift, outside of scheduled breaks, and to perform physically active tasks throughout the day.
• Steel-toed shoes suitable for a manufacturing environment.
• Willingness and ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and hearing protection.

• Comfort working with small hand tools and performing precise, repetitive insertion tasks at a steady pace.
• Strong multitasking ability, especially for kitting responsibilities that involve cleaning, organizing, and supplying inserts to other operators.
• Reliability and punctuality to support consistent shift-based production schedules.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to standard operating procedures.
• Comfort working in a cool-temperature environment (approximately 65 degrees) while maintaining productivity.

Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing line environment that operates on three weekday shifts: 1st shift from 6:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., 2nd shift from 2:45 p.m. to 11:15 p.m., and 3rd shift from 10:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m., Monday through Friday, with the third shift week ending on Saturday morning. The work area is cool, at approximately 65 degrees, and includes conveyor lines and curing equipment. Some positions offer the use of chairs, but you should be prepared to stand for the full shift outside of scheduled breaks. Safety is a priority, and steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection are required at all times in the production area. The environment is busy and fast-paced, with frequent handling of small components, repetitive tasks, and coordination between stations to keep the line running efficiently.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of INDIANAPOLIS, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.50/hr.
