Senior Data Engineer - dbt

We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer – dbt to join our team in Portugal in a remote working mode. This role focuses on designing, building and optimizing scalable data transformation solutions using dbt. You will ensure clean, maintainable architectures and production-grade pipelines that support analytics at enterprise scale. The position requires deep expertise in SQL, data modeling, and modern ELT practices, alongside strong skills in cloud-based data platforms and CI/CD integration.ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement modular dbt models using best practices for staging, intermediate and mart layersDevelop and maintain reusable Jinja macros, custom materializations and dbt tests for data quality validationOptimize SQL queries for large analytical workloads and ensure warehouse performance tuningManage version control using Git and integrate dbt workflows into CI/CD pipelinesOrchestrate dbt jobs with tools such as Airflow, Dagster or Prefect, ensuring reliability and SLA complianceCollaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust data models and semantic layersImplement observability practices including automated testing, data monitoring and lineage trackingLead technical discussions, establish coding standards and mentor junior engineersIdentify and resolve performance bottlenecks in data transformations to reduce compute costsDrive adoption of engineering best practices across the data teamRequirementsProven experience as a Data Engineer with extensive hands-on exposure to dbt and modern ELT patternsAdvanced SQL expertise including query optimization, CTEs and warehouse functionsExperience with major cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks or RedshiftFamiliarity with Git workflows, branching strategies and CI/CD integration for dbt projectsIn-depth knowledge of data modeling principles including dimensional modeling (Kimball)Strong understanding of data quality frameworks and observability tools (e.g., dbt tests, Great Expectations, Soda)Proficiency in orchestrating workflows using Airflow, Dagster, Prefect or dbt CloudAbility to implement Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform) for environment automationExcellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiencesStrong problem-solving mindset and capability to troubleshoot and optimize data pipelinesWe offerCompetitive compensation depending on experience and skillsVariety of projects within one companyBeing a part of a project following engineering excellence standardsIndividual career path and professional growth opportunitiesInternal events and communitiesFlexible work hours #J-18808-Ljbffr
