"On Call" Bus Drivers

This position is part-time/as needed, comparable to a substitute teacher.

JOB DESCRIPTION: 7941

POSITION TITLE: Bus Driver

QUALIFICATIONS:


1. High School Diploma or Accredited GED
2. Valid license to drive a school bus, Class "B" CDL and state certified by a
driver/trainer instructor.
3. Such additional health and age requirements as the Board may require.

REPORTS TO: Route Driver Supervisor

JOB GOAL: To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest
possible advantage from the district's curriculum and extra-curricular programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. Obey all traffic laws.
2. Observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
3. Maintain discipline when students are on the bus.
4. Report undisciplined students to the proper authority.
5. Keep assigned bus clean.
6. Keep to assigned schedule.
7. Pre-trip bus before each operation for mechanical defects.
8. Notify the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
9. Discharge students only at authorized stops.
10. Exercise responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips.
11. Transport only authorized students.
12. Report all accidents and complete required reports.
13. Enforce regulations against smoking and eating on the bus.
14. Report for duty for morning and afternoon routes.
15. Other duties as they may be required.
