Procurement Commodity/Category Manager

In this role, approximately 50% of your time will be dedicated to managing Corbion’s commodity market exposure, and 50% will focus on sourcing assigned categories of raw materials.You will be responsible for the exploration, development, and execution of category strategies, while partnering with suppliers and internal cross-functional teams. This role is accountable for commodity risk mitigation, cost savings initiatives, and delivering against individual, departmental, and company annual targets. You will also proactively communicate risks, opportunities, and market insights to leadership. You will report to the Senior Director of Procurement – Direct Materials, based in Lenexa, Kansas. This position is based in Lenexa, KS and allows for a hybrid schedule requiring a minimum of three (3) days per week in the office.Key ResponsibilitiesCommodity Market Intelligence & Risk Management (50%)Monitor and analyze relevant commodity markets (e.g., wheat, corn, oils, cocoa), with a focus on North AmericaServe as the internal subject matter expert on commodity market movementsTranslate market trends into actionable procurement strategiesDefine and execute hedging strategiesIdentify and mitigate supply and price risks (short-, medium-, and long-term)Advise stakeholders on timing of purchases, contract structures, and risk exposureEducate internal stakeholders on market developments and business implicationsCategory Management (50%)Understand market dynamics within assigned categories and the impact of price volatility on business performanceDevelop, recommend, and execute procurement strategies informed by commodity market trendsOptimize sourcing decisions based on total cost and market timingPartner with cross-functional stakeholders (R&D, Operations, C&D, Marketing, Pricing) to provide market insightsMaintain contracts and commitments to ensure visibility into financial exposureIdentify and implement cost savings opportunities across the supply chainManage annual budgets and provide monthly updates for assigned categoriesRequired Education & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, Food Industry, or a related field5+ years of experience in food procurement or supply chainStrong understanding of commodity markets and supply/demand fundamentalsFinancial acumen with the ability to link market events to business outcomesExcellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex strategies clearlyProven ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, matrixed environmentDemonstrated success in managing projects to completionKnowledge of contract management and resolution processesProficiency in Source-to-Pay systems (e.g., SAP, KYOS) and advanced Microsoft Office skillsAbility to travel up to 10%About CorbionCorbion is a sustainable ingredients company dedicated to preserving what matters, including food and food production, health, and the planet.
