Associate Veterinarian
Beyond Just You
Job Description
Job Description
What if your next practice gave you room to shape your medicine, build lasting client relationships, and pursue the cases you genuinely enjoy?
If you're an associate veterinarian looking for more variety in your day-to-day work without giving up professional autonomy, this could be worth exploring. This small animal general practice opportunity offers a broad companion animal caseload, opportunities to develop your clinical interests, and scheduling flexibility to discuss what works for your life.
Whether you're ready for a new professional challenge or simply wondering what else is out there, this could be a move worth considering.
What You'll Find Here
- More control over your medicine: Build on your strengths and develop clinical interests that keep your work engaging.
- A varied caseload: Balance preventive care, medical workups, dentistry, surgery, and urgent appointments.
- Relationships that matter: Follow patients through different life stages and build trust with the people who care for them.
- Room to collaborate: Discuss cases with fellow veterinarians and work alongside a veterinary support team.
- A schedule worth discussing: Flexibility is available, with the opportunity to explore an arrangement that fits both professional responsibilities and life outside work.
- Long-term potential: Continue developing your skills while establishing yourself in a community-focused veterinary setting.
What You'll Be Doing
This is a companion animal general practice focused on canine and feline care. Clinical opportunities include wellness and preventive medicine, internal medicine, chronic disease management, diagnostic workups, soft tissue surgery, spay and neuter procedures, dentistry, and same-day or urgent cases during regular operating hours.
There may also be opportunities to explore equine and large animal medicine through broader veterinary resources, depending on your interests and the scope of your role.
Who Might Love This
- An experienced veterinarian looking for a long-term professional home.
- A clinician who enjoys both routine wellness and challenging medical cases.
- A veterinarian interested in growing their surgical, dental, or diagnostic skills.
- Someone who values professional independence without working in isolation.
- A doctor considering relocation to the Southwest.
The Basics
- Schedule: Full-time opportunity with scheduling flexibility to discuss.
- Experience: Veterinarians comfortable independently managing a general practice caseload. An active New Mexico license, or eligibility to obtain one, is required.
- Compensation: Base salary based on experience, plus quarterly production incentives with no negative accrual.
- Additional incentives: Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance.
Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus an HSA option
- Annual PTO with rollover
- Continuing education allowance and paid CE time
- 401(k) options
- Paid parental leave
- Professional dues and liability insurance coverage
- Personal pet discounts
A Little About the Area
The greater Albuquerque region offers a Southwestern lifestyle with abundant sunshine, access to outdoor recreation, and a mix of established communities and urban amenities.
