Job Title Research Senior Technician Department Medicine | IM Cardiovascular Medicine Responsibilities Assist and support scientific investigation as directed in the Dorothy M. Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute Independently conduct assigned experiments Perform a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures, Northern and Western analysis Sort and process tissue and blood samples; test and evaluate current procedures Perform routine procedures on lab animals Record, consolidate and assist with analysis of research results; evaluate validity of data obtained from experimental procedures Summarize data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts; prepare research progress reports Assist principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts; conduct library research on requested topics through current literature Oversee and maintain accurate records of laboratory activities; assist in training junior research staff, undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation Set up and operate laboratory equipment; monitor research supply, including specimens and inventory, and initiate procurement requests as needed Minimum Education Required Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required; 4 years of relevant experience required with High School diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree, or 0 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree. Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research.
