Job Description

The Receiving & Distribution Lead owns the dock-to-distribution cycle: receiving inbound raw goods and vendor partial kits, running the accuracy-critical distribution and palletizing workflow that gets finished kits out to school sites, and directly supervising seasonal temp labor during peak distribution. This role is a key accuracy checkpoint in a highly bespoke, multi-product kit operation spanning across hundreds of school sites and partners.

Galileo Learning has been offering educational summer experiences for 25 years: STEAM-based hands-on camp and expanded learning programs that build creative confidence, growth mindset, and innovation skills for kids from kindergarten through eighth grade. Behind every camp day is a warehouse operation that receives raw materials, finishes and palletizes kits, and gets them to the right site on time and complete.

This role partners closely within the Supply Chain team to keep goods moving accurately from dock to truck, and is the primary point of direction for seasonal temp labor during peak distribution.

Success in this role requires a high degree of accuracy, physical ability, and the ability to clearly direct others during our highest-volume periods.

 

Why this Role Matters

Every kit that reaches a school site starts here. Because our kits are complex, multi-component, and highly bespoke, a single receiving or palletizing error can mean a classroom missing the materials it needs on day one. This role is the accuracy checkpoint that stands between a shipment leaving our dock and a Camp Director opening a box that’s exactly right.

Just as importantly, this role keeps our peak season moving. By directing seasonal temp labor clearly and consistently, the Lead helps the warehouse hit its highest-volume weeks without sacrificing the precision our program model depends on.

 

You will be Accountable For

Receiving

• Receive and process inbound shipments of raw goods seasonally, coordinating with the Procurement Manager on expected delivery schedules

• Receive and verify vendor-supplied partial kits: confirm completeness and accuracy against BOMs before coordinating put-away or handoff for in-house finishing

• Flag any discrepancies, shortages, or damaged goods to the Procurement Manager and Director promptly

• Once inbound shipments are received and POs are processed, coordinate with the Inventory Coordinator to ensure materials are accurately shelved and logged in the inventory management system

Distribution & Palletizing

• Work from per-site packing lists to verify kit quantities and apply accurate location labels; attention to detail is essential in this step

• Direct seasonal temp labor on physical box movement and palletizing in accordance with site-specific packing requirements

• Coordinate with the Inventory Coordinator and Logistics Manager to confirm correct pallet counts are ready for scheduled pickups

• Ensure accuracy of each pallet prior to outbound shipment; serve as a key checkpoint between Inventory pulling and QC final pallet verification

Temp Labor Supervision

• Supervise and direct seasonal temp labor on physical distribution tasks during peak season

• Ensure temp labor is deployed on tasks appropriate to their training level — physical box movement under direct supervision, not independent equipment operation or accuracy-judgment tasks

• Communicate clearly and consistently to maintain accuracy and pace during high-volume palletizing periods

Inventory Support

• Physically unload materials returned from camp sites at season’s end

• Support the QC Coordinator and Production team with initial sorting and staging of returned raw goods and electronics for testing

• Put away finished and processed materials once sorted, boxed, and cleared by QC

• Shelve finished kits and update digital location in the inventory management system once QC has processed and palletized them

• Assist the Inventory Coordinator with pulling kits for palletizing when available and not occupied with primary distribution duties (note: the Inventory Coordinator remains primary puller; this is supplemental support only)

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in a warehouse, receiving, or distribution environment, with demonstrated ability to take ownership of a workflow rather than just execute tasks

• Proficiency operating warehouse equipment including forklifts, electric pickers, and pallet jacks

• Physical capability to perform physical tasks including unloading, moving boxes, and standing for extended periods

• Fluent in written and spoken English required; Bilingual, fluent in spoken Spanish strongly preferred

• Ability to read English and work from packing lists and location labels across multiple sites simultaneously

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to give clear, patient direction to seasonal temp labor and flex tone and approach across a fast-changing floor 

• Experience informally leading, training, or directing temp or seasonal labor

• Familiarity with computer-based inventory management systems

• Prior experience in a hyperseasonal or education-related operations environment

Work Location

This role is based full-time, onsite. It is not remote or hybrid eligible.

This role requires the ability to be physically present on the warehouse floor throughout scheduled shifts, including during peak distribution and returns processing periods.

 

Schedule & Time Commitment

This is a full-time, non-exempt position, averaging 40 hours per week. Seasonal peak periods (spring receiving and pre-camp distribution, and post-camp returns) will require additional hours, including overtime, to meet site delivery deadlines.

 

Compensation

We anticipate hourly compensation for this Full-Time, exempt position to be approximately $26.00 - $31.00 per hour. Exact compensation may vary and will be based on multiple factors, including geography and professional experience.
