Job Overview Develop and implement physical therapy services and direct patient care in coordination with an inter‑disciplinary team, ensuring compliance with organizational goals and regulatory requirements. After one year of experience, Physical Therapists may serve as clinical instructors for physical therapy interns. Responsibilities Key duties include: Initiate care per policy, evaluate patients, and establish treatment plans. Manage all aspects of physical therapy intervention, including patient care, documentation, and communication. Consistently complete required documentation as per departmental policy. Participate in clinic and rounds and contribute to patient care conferences. Provide patient education and recommend discharge plans or modifications to the plan. Lead physician rounds/clinics and coordinate communication between physician and therapist. Effectively manage a full patient caseload, meeting departmental efficiency requirements. Maintain flexibility with last‑minute scheduling changes and prioritize tasks. Serve as lead PT while maintaining a full caseload. Organize unscheduled non‑productive time and improve department efficiency. Provide care across a variety of PT disciplines/settings (e.g., acute, outpatient, cardiac, wound care, neuro). Assume staffing of unit and patient care delivery as lead PT. After one year of clinical experience, educate and evaluate the performance of at least one student for a cumulative minimum of four weeks. After six months at the institution, educate and evaluate new staff members’ competencies or registry via orientation. Provide formal education to internal or external departments. Attend one professional meeting per year (district, state, or national) or be a member of the APTA. Engage in professional development activities including publishing, speaking, research, or committee service. Assume responsibility for special projects assigned by the Department Director or chief. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Current knowledge of treatment practices. Excellent interpersonal communication skills; effective verbal and written communication skills. Mature and sound judgment. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Physical Therapy. Experience in the health field. Licensing & Certifications Physical Therapist – PT (California DCA) or licensed applicant status for one examination period for California licensure, with California licensure earned within 90 days of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) healthcare provider from the American Heart Association. Fire Life Safety Training (Los Angeles City); if no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days and renewed before expiration.
