Cook - Line Boat AMAT

Prepares and cooks family style meals for boat crews and employees of institutions by performing the following duties. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Prepare and cook meals in appropriate quantities based on established menus and crew size, ensuring quality, consistency and timeliness.
• Plan and develop menus that incorporate seasonal ingredients, cost efficiency, and balanced nutrition for crew members.
• Serve meals in a timely and professional manner, maintain a clean and organized dining environment.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen areas, including dishwashing, food preparation surface, and storage areas.
• Perform food preparation tasks such as cutting, portioning, and storing meats and other ingredients.
• Monitor and manage inventory levels; order food and kitchen supplies as needed while maintaining accurate records of usage and expenditures.
• Direct activities of one or more workers who assist in preparing and serving meals.
• Comply with all company policies, safety regulations, and sanitation standards.
• Remain onboard the vessel for extended periods, supporting continuous meal service operations for the crew.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; plus one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms; use hands to finger, handle or feel; talk or hear; sit; stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl.
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Work Environment

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
