About the Position

Job Title: Paramedic II Profession: Paramedic Specialty: Life Flight Paramedic Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Day 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: One year ALS Paramedic experience required, preferred two to three years prehospital experience with a moderate call volume. License: Current Class C driver's license from NC or other state. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP. Must-Have: Critical thinking and ability to concentrate. Description: The Paramedic II functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team providing direct patient care. The Paramedic performs a variety of activities across various practice settings and patient populations. Duties and responsibilities include providing direct patient care under the medical oversight of the Medical Director. The Paramedic assists clinical staff in evaluating, treating, and caring for patients. Obtaining pertinent history and performing physical examinations are key responsibilities. Technical procedures may be performed as delegated. Patient monitoring and maintaining records using patient monitoring systems and electronic health records is essential. Documentation of patients' status and care delivery must follow established protocols. The Paramedic communicates essential information professionally to all appropriate members of the healthcare team. Operating extensive medical and mechanical equipment is required, ensuring all equipment is functional and restocked as needed. Providing and maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment is a crucial responsibility. Proper disposal and handling of hazardous materials must adhere to policies. Utilization of personal protective equipment is necessary when in contact with patients and hazardous materials. Acting as a preceptor to support the development of other staff and learners is expected. The Paramedic participates in identifying clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities. Maintaining certifications and clinical skills is essential for the role. The Paramedic performs other related duties incidental to the work described. Completing vehicle inspections and documentation each shift is required. Minor repairs to the unit, including changing light bulbs and replenishing fluids, fall under this role. Daily maintenance tasks, such as fueling and cleaning of the vehicle, are necessary. Responsible for assisting with patient care tasks, including loading and unloading and providing family directions. Direct patient care on ALS I, ALS II, or BLS transports must not exceed the defined scope of practice. Replenishing oxygen and medical supplies used during transport is part of the responsibilities. Safe driving skills and ability to use technology are essential to complete missions safely. Assisting with continuing education outreach programs and public relations events is required. The role may involve providing staffing coverage to various bases as needed. Knowledge of and appropriate application of the Paramedic scope of practice is critical. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships is vital. Independently seeking out resources and collaborative work is expected. The role requires the ability to process and prioritize information effectively. Physical requirements include the ability to walk, stand, lift, reach, and pull. Candidates must be able to lift and support weights up to 75 pounds. Sensory and cognitive functions must remain intact to perform job duties effectively. Participation in professional development and maintaining required competencies is expected.
