Resource and Education Specialist (Kansas City and St. Joseph areas)

Position Overview Resource and Education Specialist will empower individuals and families to achieve greater stability and self‑sufficiency by coordinating resources, providing financial assistance, and delivering life‑skills education. The role combines direct client support with training and education responsibilities and requires a client‑centered, trauma‑informed approach. The position is based out of the Kansas City office and requires occasional travel to other locations. Essential Duties Conduct screenings and assessments to identify client needs and barriers related to housing, utilities, transportation, employment, food insecurity, health issues, substance abuse, and other emergency needs. Provide short‑term service coordination and emergency financial assistance in line with agency policies. Connect individuals and families to internal and external resources, keeping knowledge of programs current. Develop and maintain partnerships with community agencies, businesses, landlords, employers, healthcare providers, and others. Maintain and update comprehensive resource directories and referral information. Advocate for clients and encourage long‑term self‑sufficiency and independence. Connect clients to volunteer mentors and supportive services when appropriate. Training, Education & Workforce Development Coordinate, facilitate, and deliver workshops and classes on financial literacy, budgeting, goal setting, personal organization, parenting, life‑skills, and other self‑sufficiency topics. Adapt curriculum and instructional methods to meet the needs of diverse populations, including limited English proficiency and justice‑involved individuals. Support workforce development by assisting participants with job‑search strategies, career exploration, and employment preparation. Program Development, Reporting & Collaboration Track service delivery, financial assistance expenditures, participation, and outcomes in agency databases. Maintain accurate documentation and case notes in compliance with agency and funding requirements. Assist with program coordination and implementation of new initiatives aligned with agency goals. Participate in weekly program meetings and process‑improvement efforts. Train and onboard new staff and volunteers. Collaborate internally and externally to support coordinated client care and holistic service delivery. Represent Catholic Charities at community meetings, outreach events, trainings, and partnership activities. Support agency marketing and storytelling efforts by highlighting program successes. Participate in special initiatives including disaster response coordination and Second Collection activities, as assigned. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Education, or a related field (or relevant professional experience). Preferably the degree from an accredited institution. Minimum of two years of experience in direct services, case management, workforce development, education, or training facilitation. Bilingual English/Spanish fluency preferred but not required. Experience working with low‑income populations and community‑based resources strongly preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong public speaking, facilitation, and group training skills. Knowledge of trauma‑informed care and adult learning principles. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and work independently and collaboratively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and client database/tracking systems. Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality with sensitive client information. Benefits & Compensation Salary commences at $45,000 per year. Comprehensive benefits: medical, dental, vision plans, STD/LTD fully paid by employer. 401(k) retirement plan with up to 5% employer match. Paid time off including vacation/sick leave accrual and 10 holidays. Three‑day weekend (office Monday‑Thursday, closed Friday).
