Maintenance Electrician - Level 2

Summary Plans layout, installs, troubleshoots and repairs electrical wiring, fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plan new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes. Prepare sketches showing location of wiring and equipment or follow diagrams or blueprints. Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit. Pull wiring through conduit. Splice wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps. Connect wiring to lighting fixtures, power equipment, and machinery. Install control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit‑breaker panels. Connect power cables to equipment. Test continuity of circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments. Observe functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, and replacement. Repair faulty equipment or systems. Discuss layouts, assembly procedures, and problems with supervision and engineering; draw sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic or electrical circuitry. Check functioning of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions. Qualification Requirements Education And/or Experience Two‑year degree in Electrical Technology or related field or Journeyman Electrical License and a minimum of two years of industrial field experience. A minimum of five years of direct work experience in an industrial setup will substitute for the above requirement. Interpret documents such as schematics, wiring, ladder diagrams, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Experience working with electronics and solid‑state devices such as drives. Numerical Control or CNC experience is desired but not a requirement. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules and manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively to other employees and vendors. Mathematical Skills Ability to work with mathematical concepts and fundamentals of plane, solid geometry, and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Other Skills And Abilities Ability to operate a fork truck and aerial lift. Ability to work with computers and specific software. Physical Demands The employee is regularly required to walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, work at heights, sit, climb, and balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
