Manual Machinist – Lockport, IL | $35.00/hr | Precision Machining Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join our precision machining team. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience operating manual lathes, mills, grinders, drill presses, and vertical turning lathes (VTLs). This role requires strong technical ability, blueprint reading skills, and a commitment to producing accurate, high‑quality parts.

• Manual Machine Operation — Set up and operate manual machine tools including engine lathes, VTLs, mills, drill presses, and surface grinders.
• Blueprint Interpretation — Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to ensure accurate machining.
• Precision Machining — Machine parts to tight tolerances using proper speeds, feeds, and tooling.
• Quality Inspection — Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision instruments.
• Machine Maintenance — Perform routine maintenance and report mechanical issues.
• Tooling Selection — Select appropriate tooling and make adjustments during machining operations.
• Shop Safety & Organization — Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Team Collaboration — Work with team members to meet production goals and deadlines.

• Proven experience as a manual machinist, including operation of a vertical turning lathe (VTL).
• Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, and materials.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools and inspection methods.
• Ability to work independently and troubleshoot machining challenges.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

This is a Permanent position based out of Lockport, IL.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.
