Veterinary Practice Manager (Operations Manager)

Reports to: Executive Practice Director Job Summary The Hospital Practice Manager (Operations Manager) is responsible for leading the hospital's clinical and operational performance by developing a high-performing veterinary technician team, driving efficient workflows, and delivering an exceptional client experience. This role oversees staffing, scheduling, team development, and daily operations while fostering a positive, accountable culture that supports quality patient care and service excellence. This is a hands-on leadership role and not a desk-only position. Growth Opportunity This is an excellent opportunity for a Lead Technician, Assistant Manager, or Practice Manager from a smaller hospital who is looking to grow into a larger leadership role. The hospital is seeking someone with long-term leadership potential who can continue developing and eventually step into broader management responsibilities. This role is ideal for a leader who enjoys developing people and is ready to lead a larger team in a multi-doctor hospital environment. Primary Areas of Focus 60% People Leadership & Team Development 20% Operations & Workflow Management 10% Client Service & Experience 10% Clinical Support as Needed Key Qualifications Veterinary Technician background required and willing to jump in and support the team when needed. 4+ years of leadership experience, ideally in a veterinary hospital setting. Experience leading and developing support staff, preferably in a multi-doctor practice. A strong people leader who can build trust, coach team members, and hold others accountable. Experience managing schedules, inventory, workflow, and daily hospital operations. Strong understanding of veterinary medicine, including surgery, diagnostics, and patient care. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Comfortable adapting to the needs of a busy hospital environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and veterinary practice management software. Talent Management Recruit, hire, and retain a strong team of Veterinary Technicians. Help team members grow through coaching, feedback, and ongoing development. Create a positive, supportive culture while maintaining clear expectations and accountability. Recognize strengths, develop talent, and promote teamwork across the hospital. Support employee engagement and retention by investing in your team’s success. Operations Management Oversee scheduling, inventory, workflow, and the day-to-day operations of the hospital. Communicate priorities and keep the team aligned on hospital goals and initiatives. Foster collaboration between departments and encourage open communication. Take ownership of team performance and operational outcomes. Identify challenges, solve problems, and help keep the hospital running smoothly. Step in as a Veterinary Technician when needed to support the team and patient care. Client & Team Experience Help create a positive experience for clients, patients, and team members. Build strong relationships with clients, vendors, and community partners. Address concerns professionally and work toward practical solutions. Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming hospital environment. Lead by example and help reinforce the hospital's culture and values. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work with cleaning products. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and climates. Compensation Compensation for this position starts at $60,000 annually and will be based on experience, leadership background, and overall qualifications. Work Schedule The schedule for this position is primarily Monday through Friday. Weekend, holiday, or occasional after-hours support may be required based on hospital needs.
