Position Overview
The ideal candidate will possess the necessary foundation, preparation, and vision to embark on a rewarding career in academic urology. This individual should exhibit exceptional clinical skills and expertise in all facets of endourology, particularly in the medical and surgical management of stone disease.
Key Responsibilities- Actively participate in the educational objectives of the department by teaching, mentoring, and supervising a diverse array of learners, including medical students, residents, fellows, and PA/NP students.
- Engage in clinical and/or translational research, with opportunities for dedicated research time to foster a successful scholarly program.
- Contribute to the academic mission through scholarly activities, participation in educational conferences, and other initiatives that promote advancements in urology.
- Encourage and participate in relevant professional societies and educational organizations.
- Provide service on departmental and school committees to support the missions of the University and public service.
- Participate in call coverage and fulfill general urology clinical responsibilities.
- Promote a collaborative and collegial environment that values diversity and fosters team science and multidisciplinary patient care.
This recruitment is open for positions at the assistant, associate, and full professor levels. The final appointment will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and background.
CompensationThe salary range for this role is between $346,267 and $765,311. This position includes membership in relevant professional organizations.
Legal RequirementsThe selected candidate must demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States. Please note that the organization will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
QualificationsApplicants must meet the following basic qualifications at the time of application:
- M.D. or D.O. degree
- Board certification or eligibility in Urology
- California medical license or eligibility for full and unrestricted licensure in California
- Strong clinical and surgical capabilities in all aspects of endourology
- Evidence of teaching experience in a diverse setting
- Demonstrated ability to conduct clinical research
- Record of professional and/or scholarly achievements
- Publications in medical literature
Additional qualifications required upon starting:
- Completion of an ACGME accredited endourology fellowship

About the DepartmentThe Department of Urologic Surgery is a dynamic academic practice with expertise across all areas of urologic surgery. We offer a 5-year accredited urologic surgery residency program, admitting 2-3 residents annually. Our medical center, located in Sacramento, CA, serves as the primary tertiary referral center and is the only level 1 adult and pediatric trauma center in the region, featuring 660 licensed beds and busy surgical facilities.
Location HighlightsSituated about 90 miles inland from San Francisco, Sacramento is a culturally rich, technologically advanced city and the fastest-growing in California. As the state capital, it serves as the political center of California. The city offers excellent educational institutions, a variety of dining options, and a growing housing market, along with easy access to outdoor activities such as Lake Tahoe (120 miles), Napa Valley (60 miles), and Yosemite (160 miles).
