Electrical Test Technician/Control Panel Builder

HVAC manufacturer in Lititz, PA is looking for an Electrical Test Technician/Control Panel Builder on 3rd shift. This company is rapidly growing and looking to expand their 3rd shift team. Plenty of overtime available and currently offering double time pay for overtime worked through October. Only one more opening available and offering interviews fast!

3rd shift: 10pm - 6:30am Sunday - Thursday

Pay Range: $25-28/hr DOE (additional $1/hr shift differential on 3rd shift)

Job Description

The Electrical Test Technician applies electrical principles to assemble, install, and test electrical wiring, components, and equipment in industrial control panels. This role focuses on functional testing of energized equipment up to 480V, ensuring quality, safety, and reliability of control panels produced on earlier shifts. The technician also provides hands-on leadership and mentoring to team members while collaborating closely with engineering and quality teams.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct functional testing of energized industrial control panels with voltages up to 480V, including energizing and de-energizing panels safely.
  • Apply electrical principles to assemble, install, and test electrical wiring, components, and equipment into industrial control panels.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, IEC-style diagrams, technical drawings, and bills of materials to complete wiring and testing activities accurately.
  • Inspect wiring installations, assemblies, and other electrical components to verify compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Perform complex wiring and assembly operations on panels, assemblies, and sub-assemblies, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Use and maintain fabrication tools and mechanical assemblies such as crimpers, wire stripping tools, and label machines.
  • Apply basic mathematical skills to compute measurements, rates, ratios, and percentages and to interpret charts relevant to electrical work.

Essential Skills

  • 2–4 years of electrical work with industrial control panels or 3–5 years of experience with transferable knowledge from similar industries.
  • Hands-on experience testing control panels by energizing and de-energizing panels using 120V–480V.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, IEC-style schematics, technical drawings, and assembly documentation.
  • Knowledge of UL 508A design concepts for industrial control panels.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Electrical safety training such as NFPA 70E or similar is preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Electrical or Electronic Technology certification is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with IEC-style electrical schematics.
  • Experience collaborating with engineering and quality control teams on bills of materials, drawings, and schematics.
  • Experience manufacturing and testing prototypes and providing structured feedback on design and manufacturability.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify the need for new tools and equipment and work with production engineers to implement them.
  • Comfort working in environments with moving equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, machinery, and tools.

Work Environment

This position is primarily a 3rd shift role in a manufacturing and warehouse environment. Standard 3rd shift hours are 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break and two paid 15-minute breaks. Initial training lasts approximately one month on 1st shift from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Once fully transitioned to 3rd shift, the schedule adjusts to Monday through Saturday, 10:00 p.m. to 8:30 a.m., with a half-hour lunch, and may include six 10-hour days depending on workload. All overtime is currently paid at double time as a temporary incentive, subject to change based on business needs. The work takes place in manufacturing and warehouse areas, where you may be frequently exposed to moving equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, machinery, tools, and other production equipment. The noise level is typically moderate and varies with the scope of work. The role requires standing for 8 or more hours, reaching, bending, and frequently lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Manual dexterity is essential for wiring and assembly tasks. Safety shoes and appropriate PPE are required, and you must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and follow all safety procedures. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Manheim, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
