Associate Dean of Faculty and Staff Affairs Job Summary: This College Administration‑level position within the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP) is offered in conjunction with a faculty appointment. The Associate Dean serves as a senior leader, providing strategic oversight and operational leadership across academic, clinical, and administrative domains, ensuring alignment with the college’s mission, vision, and values while fostering excellence in education, research, and patient care. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of higher education administration, accreditation standards, and integration of academic and clinical programs. Strategic leadership skills, including planning, program oversight, and data‑informed decision‑making. Effective collaboration and communication skills to engage diverse stakeholders and support shared governance. Experience in faculty and staff management, accreditation processes, and strategic planning. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to lead faculty and staff development across the full lifecycle, including recruitment, mentoring, evaluation, and retention. Ability to manage complex organizational dynamics, drive continuous improvement, and ensure regulatory compliance. Capacity to foster an inclusive, high‑performing culture aligned with institutional mission and priorities. Commitment to working in an organization that values humanism. Required Qualifications Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree required. Residency trained and Board Certified in a medical or surgical specialty. Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in medical education and/or clinical practice. Preferred Qualifications Advanced academic credentials preferred. Key Responsibilities Oversee and support Department Chairs in achieving departmental goals, ensuring academic and clinical excellence. Assist with faculty workforce and staffing projections and review teaching assignments, service loads, and support workload balancing. Generate documentation for accreditation site visits and reviews. Assist the Vice Dean of College Affairs in reporting personnel metrics. Collaborate with the Dean, Vice Dean and senior leadership to develop and implement strategic initiatives for the college. Lead faculty recruitment, retention, promotion, and development processes. Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and institutional policies related to faculty governance. Assist with oversight of faculty relations and conflict resolution. Develop and implement a unified process for faculty evaluations. Collaborate with the College Faculty Assembly Chair on governance matters and policy development. Provide oversight of staff operations within COMP, promoting a positive and productive work environment. Support professional growth and performance management for administrative and support staff. Assist with oversight of staff relations and conflict resolution. Direct Continuing Medical Education (CME) programming to meet the educational needs of practicing physicians and healthcare professionals. Ensure CME activities comply with accreditation requirements. Develop and implement faculty and staff development programs to enhance teaching, leadership, and clinical skills. Provide oversight of the faculty‑led Mission Aligned Professional Development team. Promote mentorship and career advancement opportunities. Collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to ensure high‑quality patient care and clinical education. Support integration of clinical services with academic programs to enhance student learning and community health impact. Working Conditions and Physical Demands Work is performed in a typical office setting. The employee is frequently required to use hands, reach with hands and arms, stoop, stand, walk, and lift or move up to 25 pounds. Posting Details Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, usual business hours Monday‑Friday 8 AM – 5 PM. Some evenings and weekends may be required.
