Structural Bridge Engineer

Within our Transportation Practice we have spent over five decades designing safe and efficient infrastructure. We are seeking an experienced Structural Bridge Engineer to support and grow our practice in the Cleveland, Ohio office. Structural Bridge Engineer Essential Functions Collaborate on structural analysis and design of diverse bridge types, including steel beams, prestressed concrete beams, concrete slabs, pedestrian bridges, culverts, retaining walls, grade separations, stream crossings, bridge hydraulic analysis, rehabilitation, feasibility studies, structure type studies, load ratings, railroad bridges and design‑build projects. Lead bridge projects as the Bridge Task Coordinator, managing schedules, tasks and deliverables to align with client goals. Provide design and plan production support to teams across multiple office locations. Mentor junior engineers, fostering professional development and overseeing quality control of bridge design and plan sets. Develop technical memorandums, specifications, feasibility studies, evaluations and reports, and contribute to proposal development. Perform additional duties as assigned. Essential Credentials Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis. PE license is a plus; successful candidates must have or be able to obtain a PE within one year of hire. Qualifications 5–10 years of hands‑on bridge/culvert design experience through the full lifecycle of projects. Direct experience with DOT bridge design and a thorough understanding of DOT design guidelines, procedures and plan preparation. Established relationships with state DOTs and municipalities are preferred. In‑depth knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and the Manual for Bridge Evaluation. Experience with CAD plan development, MicroStation/ORD preferred. Desired Skills Strong project management skills, including schedules, budgets and client expectations. Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers. High attention to detail and commitment to quality control. Compensation & Benefits Annual Compensation: $81,000 – $120,000 based upon experience, certifications and regional market standards.
