Summary You will serve as a Geologist. You may perform a broad range of geological studies and provide technical review and oversight of tasks or programs related to sedimentary, metamorphic, and (or) igneous petrography, geology, mineralogy, structural and framework geology, resources assessments and other areas related to physical properties of the earth. Locations: - Cedar City - Salt Lake City Learn more about this agency Duties Help Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following:
- Serve as principal advisor to the Field Manager on technical and regulatory actions affecting the minerals programs and write reports and recommendations regarding mineral issues in support of other activities or proposals, such as lands actions.
- Review mining notices and plans of operations for regulatory and technical adequacy; calculate reclamation cost estimates; process mineral material sales and free use permits; and inspect mining operations to ensure compliance with plan and performance standards.
- Prepare and update the minerals and geology sections for the planning area of the Field Office through field examinations, research, review of reports, and collaboration with other agencies, institutions, and industry.
- Create reports and appraisals on mineral leases, sales and mining operations, review exploration or development/operating plan for adequacy and prepare mineral reports on salable and locatable mineral potential.
- Review Applications for Permit to Drill and drilling plans for regulatory and technical accuracy; evaluate the stratigraphy, hydrology, coring, logging testing, and geologic hazards and write geologic reports.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
