Prophet & Poet is an ultra-premium, small-production Sonoma County wine brand producing under 1000 cases annually across up to five SKUs depending on the vintage. Our wines — Black Crown, Mountain Sage, Mourning Cloak, Ghost Cat, and King Bird — are priced between $200 and $550 per bottle and sold in three-packs via a direct-to-consumer allocation model. On our debut 2021 vintage, we achieved a record five 100-point scores.
Prophet & Poet is a next-generation fine wine label born from a shared vision between friends, blending creativity, craftsmanship, and storytelling. Created by acclaimed winemaker Jesse Katz in collaboration with Chris Jackson—whose family's legendary vineyard sites provide the foundation for each vintage—Prophet & Poet reimagines the world of ultra-premium wine. Collectors are not acquired through advertising; they are acquired one relationship at a time, most often across the table at an intimate private wine dinner.
Prophet & Poet is now building a national footprint of collector relationships to match the caliber of the wine. We are hiring our first regional Sales Associates to lead that expansion.

ROLE PURPOSE
The Regional Sales Associate is a deeply experienced wine sales professional — someone who has spent a career building relationships with serious collectors and who genuinely loves the craft of selling fine wine. This is not an entry-level or generalist sales role. We are looking for people who already know how to walk into a room of high-net-worth collectors, host a private dinner, and close.
You will own a regional territory, build and personally host private wine dinners and tastings, and convert relationships into long-term Prophet & Poet allocation members. This is a commission-only, 1099 independent contractor role — built for an experienced closer who wants uncapped upside tied directly to the relationships they build.

TERRITORY & MARKET FOCUS
Prophet & Poet is opening two regional territories simultaneously, chosen to give the brand a genuine nationwide collector presence anchored around our direct-to-consumer, dinner-driven sales model. Each territory pairs a primary metro hub with a secondary luxury market within reasonable travel distance, and all included states currently permit direct-to-consumer wine shipping under a winery direct-shipper's license.

Territory 1 — Atlantic Corridor: New York & Florida

Territory 2 — Central Corridor: Illinois (Chicago), Colorado & Texas

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Cultivate & Close: Identify, engage, and personally close sales with high-net-worth collectors within your assigned territory, primarily through private wine dinners, tastings, and one-on-one relationship building.
Host Private Dinners: Plan and personally lead intimate wine dinners and tasting experiences that reflect Prophet & Poet's cinematic, literary, wisdom-forward voice — from guest curation through the close.
Build Your Book: Develop and manage a personal pipeline of collector relationships using Commerce7 and CRM tools; track every touchpoint from first introduction through allocation membership and repeat purchase.
Represent the Brand: Attend and represent Prophet & Poet at regional wine festivals, charity auctions, and collector events to build visibility, credibility, and pipeline within your territory.
Own the Full Sales Cycle: Manage the complete journey from lead to allocation membership to referral generation, working closely with the VP of Sales & Marketing on outreach cadence and conversion.
Coordinate Allocation & Compliance: Partner with leadership on inventory allocation for your territory and ensure every sale complies with your territory's direct-shipping regulations and license limits.
Report & Forecast: Maintain accurate CRM records and provide regular pipeline and closed-sales reporting to the VP of Sales & Marketing.
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS
Required
7+ years of proven wine sales experience, ideally in luxury/allocation-based DTC, fine wine retail, or high-end hospitality.
A demonstrated track record of closing five- and six-figure relationships with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clientele.
Genuine, deep passion for fine wine and hospitality. Direct experience hosting or co-hosting private dinners, tastings, or allocation/wine club events.
Self-motivated and entrepreneurial, with a strong track record of success in fully or majority commission-based compensation.
Based in, or willing to build a presence in, your assigned territory, with the ability to travel regionally to host dinners and attend events.

Preferred
An existing personal network of wine collectors within the assigned territory.
WSET Level 1, Court of Master Sommeliers, or an equivalent credential.
Existing relationships with luxury concierges, private client bankers, family offices, or luxury real estate professionals who can refer high-net-worth clientele.
Experience with Commerce7 or comparable DTC wine allocation platforms.
