Civil Litigation Attorney

The Hackensack, New Jersey office of Kaufman Dolowich, a full-service National Law firm with more than 250 attorneys across 16 offices and over 25 practice areas, is actively seeking an attorney to join our growing litigation practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong litigation, research, writing, and advocacy skills, with experience independently managing matters through all phases of litigation. This position offers the opportunity to handle sophisticated professional liability matters and work closely with a collaborative team representing a diverse range of professionals and businesses. Responsibilities Independently manage all phases of professional liability litigation from inception through resolution Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, and other litigation-related filings Conduct and defend depositions Attend and advocate at court appearances, mediations, arbitrations, settlement conferences, and other proceedings Develop and execute litigation strategies while maintaining strong client relationships Handle matters involving professional negligence, malpractice, errors and omissions claims, and other complex liability disputes Manage discovery, motion practice, expert witness coordination, and case deadlines in both state and federal courts Collaborate with partners and clients to provide strategic guidance and achieve favorable outcomes Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of litigation experience Admission to practice in New Jersey required; New York admission is a plus Experience handling matters in state and federal court Demonstrated experience drafting and arguing motions, conducting depositions, and representing clients in mediations and arbitrations Strong courtroom presence and advocacy skills Excellent legal writing, analytical, negotiation, and communication abilities Ability to independently manage an active caseload and prioritize competing deadlines Experience in professional liability, legal malpractice, insurance defense, or complex commercial litigation is preferred Collaborative and entrepreneurial culture with strong mentorship and support Significant opportunities for professional growth, client development, and advancement Unlimited PTO for Attorneys Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package Robust discretionary and billable-based bonus opportunities Meaningful clients contact and hands‑on litigation experience Base Salary Range: $135,000-$170,000 Please note that the stated salary range is an estimate and does not guarantee a specific offer.
