Bounds Law LLC | Kansas City (Hybrid/Remote) Bounds Law is hiring aSenior Attorneyto step into a high-impact, client-facing role supporting our growing base of small business and entrepreneurial clients. This is not necessarily a traditional attorney position and has the potential to turn into a partnership role for the right person (so read fully) This role is designed for an attorney who wants totake ownership of client relationships, operate asoutside in-house counsel, and work closely with business owners on an ongoing basis—not just one-off projects. Why This Role Matters Bounds Law operates on a membership-based model, where clients rely on us as their ongoing legal partner—not just when something goes wrong. This position serves as theprimary attorney for those clients, meaning you will be directly responsible for maintaining relationships, managing legal work, and ensuring clients feel supported, informed, and taken care of. You will not be one of many attorneys — you will be akey driver of how the firm operates day-to-day. What You’ll Be Doing You will act as thego-to legal advisorfor a portfolio of small business clients and will be responsible for keeping their matters moving from start to finish. This includes: Serving as theprimary point of contactfor membership clients Responding to client inquiries and providing clear, practical legal guidance Managing ongoing client relationships and maintaining consistent communication Drafting and reviewing contracts (client agreements, MSAs, service agreements, etc.) Handling/overseeing trademark and copyright filings Assisting with business formations and structuring (LLCs, operating agreements) Advising on day-to-day legal issues for small businesses Managing multiple matters at once and ensuring deadlines are met Keeping work moving forward without requiring constant oversight Reviewing and refining initial drafts prepared by support staff or junior team members, ensuring final work product meets firm standards Collaborating with the Managing Attorney on higher-level strategy and complex issues when needed This role requires ownership, responsiveness, organization, and follow-through. What Success Looks Like in This Role Clients receive timely, clear, and thoughtful responses Matters are consistently moving forward without delay You take ownership of your work and client relationships You prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment You communicate proactively rather than reactively You reduce the need for day-to-day oversight from the Managing Attorney Support staff and junior team members are effectively utilized, with work flowing efficiently from draft to final delivery What We’re Looking For 3–6+ years of transactional experience Experience in business law and/or intellectual property (trademarks preferred) Strong drafting skills and attention to detail Comfortable communicating directly with clients and simplifying complex issues Highly organized and able to manage multiple matters at once Self-motivated and able to work independently without constant oversight Enjoys working with entrepreneurs and small business owners Thrives in a fast-moving, small firm environment What This Role Is NOT No requirement to bring in your own business Not a litigation-heavy role (if any, to be honest) This is aclient-facing, relationship-driven rolewhere you will be expected to take ownership of communication, timelines, and deliverables. Compensation & Structure Base Salary:$75,000 – $95,000(based on experience) Bonus:Monthly, Quarterly and annual performance-based bonuses available, tied to client management, responsiveness, and overall contribution to firm growth Cell Phone Stipend: Monthly allowance provided Schedule: Hybrid (primarily remote with occasional in-office time, approx. 1 day/week) About Bounds Law Bounds Law was built to provideaccessible, strategic legal supportto small business owners and entrepreneurs who often don’t have consistent legal guidance.
