Safety ManagerThe Safety Manager, reporting to the Safety & Health Program Manager enforces the Company Safety program and insures that job site(s) are in compliance with federal, state and local health and safety standards. The Site Safety Manager will administer job-specific safety related training and the enforce all safety procedures to ensure the safety of the physical environment for employees and sub-contractors.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAdministers, executes and continually improves the Safety and Health ProgramManages, monitors, and conducts inspection of services for safety and contract complianceMaintains all safety metrics for the projectCollects, records, reports and analyses all safety data for trendsPerforms the role of investigative lead in complex investigation of incidents, near misses, and property damage incidentsProvides root cause analysis by examining evidence gathered from conducting in-depth victim, casualty and witness interviews, and photographic evidenceEnsure follow-up is done to minimize future exposure and ensures proper records/documents are maintainedKeep abreast of any safety and environmental law or regulation changes that impact the organizationPerform collateral duty assignments such as environmental, Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO), and special topics as assignedParticipates in EHS site audits, inspections, and routine surveys including the developing and drafting of audit documentationCoordinates with others for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently and effectivelyFirst responder to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate health / safety/ security concernsConduct routine safety observations to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, company environmental, health, and safety policies, procedures and practicesConduct daily site visits unless weather stops work for the dayConduct written Site Audits and/or Job Behavior Observations at a frequency dictated by management and/or clientProvides safety training to all site staffReports safety trends to the Project Manager and the Corporate Safety ManagerIdentifies and mitigates all safety hazards in a practical, timely, and responsible fashionUses judgment and initiative in the selection, interpretations and application of guides, making compromises and adaptations, when necessary within the framework of established contractual objectivesPerforms other duties as assignedRequirementsFamiliarity with local, state, and federal codes as they apply to all aspects of solar construction and construction equipment and toolsDemonstrated ability to evaluate environmental health and safety related risksDemonstrated awareness and understanding of EHS policy and management system, the importance of confirming to EHS policies and procedures, and consequences of failing to comply with EHS policies and proceduresKnowledge of power generation mechanical and electrical systemsDemonstrated ability to work independently and with a team with attention to detail and organizational abilitiesAbility to travel extended periods of timeEffective communication and interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacyAbility to maintain an established work scheduleAbility to interact and communicate effectively at all levels and across diverse culturesEffective organization and planning skillsAbility to maintain confidentiality.Ability to safely drive a company vehicleDemonstrated ability to use standard office software programs, including spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and audiovisual presentationsEducation / ExperienceHigh School diploma or equivalent (required)BS Degree in safety or a related field with five (5) years of construction safety experience or ten (10) years of construction safety experience.Must be Authorized OSHA 500 TrainerHave obtained OSHA 30 CertificationAuthorized CPR/First Aid/AED CertifiedValid Driver's License Required with a clean driving record.Physical DemandsThe environmental conditions for this job range from indoor activity to inclement outdoor extremes of cold, heat, wind, and various forms of precipitation. The widest variance of noise is also encountered.Ability to walk and perform site inspections 70% of the day.Lifting up to 35 pounds.Perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, and walking significant distances.Visual ability (20/20 corrected or uncorrected) to observe and detect signs of danger.95% travel is required for the Safety Coordinator position.Drive a passenger car or pickup truckTraverse rough and uneven surfaces on foot
