RECREATION ASSISTANT (LIFEGUARD)

About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Hurlburt Field Aquatics Center and is not guaranteed a set amount of hours, but can be scheduled 0 - 40 hours per week. As a federal employee you will have access to all Hurlburt Field FSS facilities. Growth and other benefit opportunities also available. Who May Apply: Open to everyone. Qualifying Experience: In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Must have an approved and current nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training, and CPR (both child and adult) training. Must have experience which provides a practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules, procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment. Must have experience in the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit or other processing of cash items when this includes direct handling of cash items, and use of cash accountability control methods. Satisfactory completion of installation records check, state and national criminal background checks may be required for positions that provide lifesaving duties for children. Must have the ability to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 45 pounds; frequently stand, stoop, bend, stretch, push, and pull. Successful completion and favorable adjudication of applicable background investigation (Tier 1 Level) is required. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a physical examination. Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Must be able to work days, nights, weekends and holidays.
