Patient Educator RN or RD - Diabetes Education

This role supports multiple locations. The schedule will likely be 1 day per week in Aurora, 2 days in Glen Ellyn, and 2 days in Geneva. Employees will be assigned specific days to cover inpatients at CDH (Winfield) and Delnor (Geneva) for inpatient consults. Job Overview The Patient Educator understands and reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM. The educator adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, complies with HIPAA, and follows all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory and accreditation standards. Responsibilities Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate educational activities for the assigned service. Use critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Collaborate with nurse managers and staff to assess learning needs and competencies. Develop, implement, and evaluate educational plans/programs, using methods, measurements, and tools to evaluate achievement of learning goals. Serve as a consultant for staff in areas of program development, clinical practice, and professional development. Participate in the coordination and continuity of orientation programs, including preceptor programs. Qualifications Required: Registered RN or Dietitian in the State of Illinois. Master’s degree in Nutrition or Dietetics. BLS Healthcare provider required or within 90 days of hire. Preferred: CBDCE Certification from the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education.
