TITLE: Security Guard - OvernightPOSITION TYPE: Part Time, Non-ExemptCOMPANY: Sharks Sports and Entertainment, LLCLOCATION: SAP Center & Tech CU Arena REPORTS TO: Security ManagerPOSTING DATED: January 2026PAY RANGE: The pay range for this role is $22.57 per hour - (SEIU Local 1877- Salary Schedule)Position Overview:The Security Team is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of our facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We are seeking a professional and dependable individual to help ensure a secure, welcoming, and friendly environment for all guests and employees. This is an overnight Security Guard position, with regular shifts between 12:15 AM to 8:15 AM. The ideal candidate will be available and committed to working this overnight schedule consistently.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesContinuously control building access, guarding against unauthorized entry and activitiesMonitor video surveillance system and oversee various computer-related tasksMonitor electronic access control system, opening doors, creating accounts and assigning access.Conducts screening using metal detectors, hand wands and x-ray units.Regularly maintain various registers/security logsRegularly patrol facility by constant walking and climbing stairsIdentify and correct safety/security issues while escalating issues as needed to Security SupervisorProvide excellent customer service experiences to enhance experienceAbility to handle radios, speaking opening and professionally demonstrating strong verbal and interpersonal skillsFollow safety and security policies, programs and procedures with the ability to manage high pressure situationsOperate vehicle gates, fire alarms and other life safety systemsWork collaboratively with San Jose Emergency Services as neededShift Information Typical overnight shift: 12:15 AM - 8:15 AM (hours may vary depending on business needs)Must be available to work at least two-thirds of scheduled events per month, including evenings, weekends, and some holidaysMinimum QualificationsMust be 18 years or olderValid California Guard Card requiredMust be able to wear SSE assigned uniform during all shiftsAbility to work various shifts, weekends, possibly holidays, and nightsMust clear background check with no felony convictionsMust have the ability to deescalate situationsPrior security experience preferredBilingual preferredPhysical RequirementsAbility to operate, transport, and manipulate certain equipment up to 15 pounds with or without accommodationAbility to bend at the waist, reach overhead and lift up to 15 lbs with or without accommodationPhysically navigate stairs and catwalks at SSE facilities during normal work hours and events with or without accommodationMust be able to go up and down stairs multiple times in a shiftMust have the ability to walk, sit, and stand for long periods of time inside and outsideWhat We OfferCompetitive compensation401K (pre-tax and Roth options)Complimentary or discounted sports and event tickets30% discount in the Sharks Pro Shop$200 Employee Referral bonusFood and beverage discounts when workingSpot Pet InsuranceFree Barracuda ticketsFree ice skating at Sharks Ice (San Jose, Fremont, and Oakland)Central office location in downtown San Jose at the heart of Silicon Valley; convenient access to Caltrain, VTA, major freeways, and free parking when workingAn inclusive culture that values diversity of background and a passion to improve our SSE's commitment to change with impact on our community and industry.This position is not eligible for U.S. work authorization sponsorship.Summary:Born in 1991, Sharks Sports and Entertainment ("SSE") has grown into a multi-faceted organization that includes the SAP Center, the NHL San Jose Sharks, the AHL San Jose Barracuda, the Tech CU Arena, three Sharks Ice facilities, and the non-profit Sharks Foundation.
