Sales Engineer

• Job Description Summary* The Sales Engineer at Okuma America Corporation is responsible for providing technical and strategic sales support to a regional sales team by acting as a trusted technical advisor, territory partner, and customer-facing expert. In addition to supporting sales activities, this role contributes to territory strategy and growth initiatives. This role possesses an above average level of sales and technical accumen, and a proven ability to influence outcomes. Attention to detail, strategic thinking, and the ability to work closely with distributors to communicate Okuma’s differentiated capabilities is critical.
• Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities* Provide strategic technical support of regional sales objectives, executing direction established by the Regional Sales Manager

Serve as a subject-matter expert on Okuma products and applications, supporting complex and high value sales opportunities Work closely with other Okuma departments to influence cross-functional solutions that maximize revenue and customer satisfaction Provide advanced phone, email, and on-site support for Territory Sales staff and distributors Lead and deliver advanced technical and applications training for distributor sales teams and key customers Play a dependable role in major sales events, customer visits, and demos, representing Okuma in both sales and technical areas. Promote, coordinate, and strategically oversee sales blitzes, developing and sharing best practices across the region Analyze market and territory data to identify trends, risks, and growth opportunities, and recommend data driven action plans Travel within the territory to develop executive level customer relationships, support distributor sales efforts, and assess end-user requirements Consistently achieve or exceed monthly unit, revenue, and market-share goals as outlined in the Sales Incentive Plan Adhere to all company employment policies and safe practices Proactively identify opportunities to improve sales processes, tools, and customer experience *Experience/Training/Education* Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing or related field 5+ years of experience in a technical engineering, manufacturing, or technical sales role, preferably within machine tools or advanced manufacturing Demonstrated success supporting complex sales cycles and high value customer engagements Understanding of machine tool terminology for Lathes, Mills, and CNC controls. Good communication skills and comfortable presenting materials to a group *Knowledge/Skills/Abilities* General: Ability to manage and prioritize complex, competing initiatives with minimal supervision Ability to work independently or as part of a team Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment Technical aptitude and understanding of advanced manufacturing processes Ability to develop machine tool specifications and influence quoting strategy Technical: Manufacturing, applications, and machining process knowledge Technical and product knowledge across Okuma platforms Proficient use of PC tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Communication: Verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to influence technical and non technical audiences Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to customers, distributors, and internal stakeholders Ability to ask probing, diagnostic questions Relationship building skills at multiple organizational levels Comfortable presenting to groups, including executive and senior level customers *Special Requirements* Maintain annual OSHA safety certifications as required by job duties Travel approximately 50% to 70% of the time to customer or distributor sites as needed Driving record that is insurable Must live within reasonable commutable distance to the corporate office #J-18808-Ljbffr Socket.dev
