Quality Inspector

The Quality Inspector at Landmark is responsible for ensuring that all products and services meet quality and reliability standards while maintaining a safe and accident-free work environment in our fabrication shop. This role oversees quality control processes, workplace safety programs, and regulatory compliance to align with industry standards and company policies. The position requires effective leadership in supervising teams, implementing process improvements, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality protocols.

Responsibilities and Duties

Quality Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and oversee quality control procedures to ensure company and industry standards are met.
• Conduct inspections, audits, and testing to identify defects and ensure product reliability.
• Analyze quality data and trends, applying total quality management (TQM) methods to improve processes and minimize defects.
• Investigate quality issues, customer complaints, and non-conformances, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
• Collaborate with the fabrication team to improve manufacturing processes and reduce defects.
• Interact with engineering, internal/third-party inspectors, and end users to ensure fabricated equipment meets safety, quality, and function standards.
• Work with suppliers and vendors to ensure incoming materials meet quality specifications.

Safety Responsibilities:

• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Landmark EHS Management System.
• Develop and enforce workplace safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations.

• Ensure that hazard assessments are completed for each task and, as a result of the assessment, workers are provided with the necessary equipment and training to safely perform job functions.

• Conduct safety audits and inspections to identify and mitigate hazards.
• Investigate accidents, near-misses, and safety violations, ensuring corrective actions are taken.
• Deliver training as needed, including PPE use, emergency response, equipment operation, and machine safety.
• Ensure employees follow proper safety procedures when operating machinery and handling materials.
• Maintain safety metrics, incident reports, and compliance documentation.
• Foster a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement in the fabrication shop.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Oversee the production team, assign tasks, and monitor performance.
• Provide coaching, training, and performance evaluations for direct reports.
• Conduct team meetings to review quality and safety performance, updates, and improvements.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in quality management, occupational safety and health, engineering, industrial management, or a related field.
• Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality control and safety compliance, preferably in construction, manufacturing, or fabrication industries.
• At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Experience ensuring compliance with OSHA, ISO, ANSI, EPA, DOT or other relevant industry standards.

Certifications/Licenses:

• STS, CHST, OHST or similar certifications, (OSHA 30 minimum with ability to achieve professional credentials)

Certifications/Licenses (Preferred but not required):

• Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or related credential
• Six Sigma, ISO 9001, or similar certifications
• Certified Welding Inspector
• First Aid/CPR Certification

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong analytical, conceptual thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, quality assurance methodologies, and workplace safety regulations.
• Proficiency in root cause analysis, corrective action planning, and continuous improvement strategies.
• Ability to analyze data, conduct audits, and generate reports for compliance tracking.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and inspections.
• Ability to train, coach, and develop employees in quality and safety best practices.
• Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) to effectively train, inform, and collaborate with employees at all levels.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster a cooperative and productive team environment.
• Ability to take initiative, work autonomously, and contribute strategically to the company's long-term success.
• Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with keen attention to detail and a proactive approach.

Working Conditions - Mental Demands / Physical Demands / Environmental Factors

• Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computers, peripherals, and telecommunication devices.
• Posture: Extended periods of sitting, standing, or walking. Ergonomic setup is encouraged.
• Motion: Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing and handling office equipment.
• Lifting: Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds, such as construction/office materials, tools, and equipment.
• Environment: Primarily involves time on the shop floor working in proximity to heavy machinery, welding operations, and material handling processes. The environment may include dust, noise, and exposure to hazardous materials, requiring personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection. Occasional indoor, climate-controlled office environment.
