RN Pediatrics

The Registered Nurse - Pediatrics provides skilled nursing care to pediatric patients in a children's hospital setting, ensuring comprehensive assessment, treatment, and collaboration with the healthcare team. The role involves managing patient care with a focus on pediatric needs, maintaining appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios, and supporting unit operations including floating between units as required. Strong communication and clinical skills are essential to deliver high-quality care in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:

• Perform patient assessments and develop individualized care plans for pediatric patients.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring patient responses.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, therapists, and support staff.
• Provide education and support to patients' families regarding care and treatment plans.
• Float between pediatric units as needed to meet patient care demands.
• Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, maintaining compliance with safety standards.
• Participate in unit staffing and scheduling, including weekend shifts and on-call duties.

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably with pediatric patients.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced pediatric hospital environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.
• Driver's license, car insurance, and automobile for field work if applicable.

• Previous pediatric nursing experience.
• Experience working in a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center.
• Familiarity with pediatric nurse-to-patient ratios (1:3-5).

• On-call duties required based on unit census.
• Weekend work required, typically 5 shifts in a 6-week period.
• Floating between pediatric units as needed.
• 48-hour shifts are not approved.
• Uniform scrub color for RNs is navy.

• Shift assignments include weekends and on-call shifts.
• No block schedules required.
• Shifts determined by unit needs and hospital staffing policies.
