Part-Time Custodian

Staunton City Schools is now recruiting for Part-Time Custodians to join its team.

Hourly Rate: $16.40/hour + DOE/DOQ.

Monday/Wednesday/Friday- 15-24 hours/week.

Custodial cleaning of Operations Center and Maintenance shop.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS:

The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to, the following functions/tasks:

• Sweeps, mops, waxes, dusts, vacuums and other general cleaning in assigned area.
• Scrubs and disinfect toilet doors daily and cleans drinking fountains, urinals, toilet bowls and other fixtures daily using such materials as will keep them in a clean and sanitary condition.
• Washes all windows, when needed.
• Reports immediately any damage to school property giving, whenever possible, the names of persons responsible.
• Remains on the premises during school hours.
• Order and maintain supplies required for workers to complete their responsibilities.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations and/or Principal.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Candidate must be able to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to get along well with others.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

• Has high school or general education diploma (GED).
• Ability to read basic operating instructions.
• Has some custodial cleaning experience or the ability to be trained in these areas.
• Hold a valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver's license.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee frequently is required to stand, climb or balance, talk or hear, and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
