Location 1 N Wacker Drive, Chicago, Illinois Job Summary The Senior Banker serves as a Trusted Advisor for real estate owners, investors, and developers, providing comprehensive financial solutions across Key’s product platform, including bank products, investment banking, and capital markets. The role drives revenue growth, portfolio management, and risk discipline while mentoring junior team members and acting as a deal team leader. Essential Functions Develop a holistic understanding of client businesses through analysis of management practices, portfolio dynamics, and strategy, and craft value‑added solutions. Position clients for success by showcasing Key’s full suite of products (investment banking, credit facilities, cash management, interest rate management, syndications, debt capital markets, deposits, leasing, private banking, equipment finance, etc.). Act as deal team leader, coordinating Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers, and other partners to structure and deliver credit and non‑credit products aligned with the LOB strategy. Manage a loan portfolio to maximize profitability and maintain strong asset quality, resolving default situations and adjusting risk ratings as needed. Identify cross‑sell opportunities with Credit, Product, and Servicing teams to deepen client relationships and overcome internal obstacles. Develop strategies for client retention, growth, acquisition, and exit based on business objectives. Mentor and coach team members, participate in onboarding, and promote continuous improvement across business development processes. Engage in community and professional organizations to enhance expertise and brand profile. Perform additional duties as assigned. Adhere to KeyBank policies, conduct business ethically, and avoid conflicts of interest. Education Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (preferred). Equivalent professional experience (required). Master of Business Administration (preferred). Work Experience 10+ years of real estate lending experience, including through a real estate downcycle (required). Proven ability to balance business development with asset quality and risk management (required). Experience as a credit underwriter, credit officer, and/or workout manager (preferred). Experience in a product role (commercial mortgage, subordinated debt, or investment banking) (preferred). Skills Excellent business development, customer relationship, and communication skills. Deep knowledge of bank products and strong credit, analytical, and financial acumen. Idea generation, strong bias for action, and proactive, intuitive thinking. Business and financial judgment, problem‑solving, and critical, creative strategy formulation. Ability to work independently, make difficult decisions, and utilize a team effectively. Strong organization, time management, and the capacity to balance client maintenance with prospecting. Physical Demands General office duties: prolonged sitting, face‑to‑face and telephone communication, frequent PC/laptop use, occasional lifting of items up to 10 lbs. Occasional travel, including overnight stays. Compensation and Benefits Base salary range: $128,000.00 - $268,000.00 annually (subject to skills, experience, and location). Eligibility for incentive compensation, including production, commission, and discretionary incentives.
