Position Summary Operates, maintains, and repairs diesel powered generators, pumps, and equipment. Keeps records of equipment, diesel fuel supply status, licenses, inspections, and certification of equipment. Essential Job Functions Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation. Operates and tests diesel powered generators, pumps, and equipment Diagnoses malfunctions; disassembles engines; examines parts for defects and wear Reconditions and/or replaces parts such as pistons, bearings, gears, valves and bushings, using hand or power tools and precision-measuring and testing instruments, Performs complete overhaul of diesel engines when required Maintains records of equipment status and certifications Ensures emergency preparedness of equipment Procures parts and services as needed Assists in preparing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) Works around high voltage, rotating equipment and various hazardous chemicals. Ensures compliance with safety regulations and standard operating procedures Knowledge of Federal, State and County Underground Storage Tank (UST) regulations. Performs related work as required Minimum Job Requirements High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency, preferably supplemented with technical training by a diesel manufacturer or vocational/trade school. Three or more years of experience operating and maintaining diesel powered generators.
